As some of you saw on my twitter page I was up in Vail on Jan 22st - 25th. First day was kinda weak, mostly groomed surfaces or frozen mash potatoes. They had very little snow and the constat freeze and thaw was really messing up the runs. Even runs they normally dont groom were getting groomed.

Overall I had a blast, the place is a bit expensive, the cheapest meal i got was my wife and I met for lunch one day (she's not a skier) and had pizza right in Lions Head village. Blue Moose had a 12" pizza with two toppings and two drinks (with refills... don’t laugh a lot of the places their not free) for 18 bucks. We also had dinner at Montak seafood resturant. The food was decent, I had a new york strip and she had the tuna, with a brusccetta appetizer, a glass of wine, and two cokes (sigh) tax and tip was something 90 bucks. Granted I was on vacation, it was a nice night out so I didn't mind but if were back at home i would have freaked.

Met up with the gang I ski with out in Montana the first day out so that was really good to see them again even though we were missing two.  The last two days it snowed and even sleeted at some times. It was pretty brutal at times ice needles on the face and the light was so flat you couldn't tell what was sky and what was slope.  The only down fall of the place i noticed is that there is very little true vertical feet decent. All of the "double blacks" were really just blacks with mogals. Kinda lame IMO. I'm used to big sky that has crazy vertical where a double black is a rock shoot no wider than a short bus where a beacon, a buddy and a shovel are needed to even go down. But I guess I can't complain, I actually took the time off and didn't think about work, I'm going back the end of march for a full 6 days, . Here are some pic's:
